So a little about my latest project. Inspired by pottery barn which seems to have a lot of trays and baskets on their site.<br />
I have combined an old Pyrex casserole holder made from wicker with leather handles, with a vintage French Chocolate ad and this is the look I was seeking for a tray for the coffee table or ottoman. Just a hint of French chic.<br />

The best part ? You probably have all the items you need already in your home! All you need are fabric scraps, a wire hanger, silk flowers. This makes a great addition to your front door, or a simple gift to a hostess.<br />

I have been running around with too many projects on my plate.<br />
<br />
Lately I have been really enjoying decoupage. I used to do it a long time ago and sort of got away from it for a while so I am picking it up again. I like to use fabric.. because I have an on line <a href="http://www.freshcutfabrics.com/">fabric store.</a> Although you can use that nice scrapbook paper they have out now too.<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These baskets are fun to do and make great little storage for washcloths or bathroom lotions.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWcC-HDU2F0XceMUm3GC5Cv4neLB97_1aGx_8PLnTU35RX2t6dmJ1d0ZxclXZmrXZ4xbSPR1pXH4G9plu7GUJT9e9Hxg_IAgps5a762P8snK1tFiYoM2QLEPrvsWDSifhJLSEMLJ4FUSc/s1600/DSC00817.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWcC-HDU2F0XceMUm3GC5Cv4neLB97_1aGx_8PLnTU35RX2t6dmJ1d0ZxclXZmrXZ4xbSPR1pXH4G9plu7GUJT9e9Hxg_IAgps5a762P8snK1tFiYoM2QLEPrvsWDSifhJLSEMLJ4FUSc/s320/DSC00817.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I decided to make something of them so that the pictures of the actresses from 1925 could be safely viewed without having to worry about them crumbling up. So this is what I did.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcxbCeyPX98Gc_yE2RXB7V3vWwGZZkFv3-bXbRYYoAMNY0V4Kg4XoPjjdjImRjYZ84E7GvSiobqh1OrwoHw1PakLWfeDgAvpN31j83cmIzmaEgH5poY5qp2nkoj2tlOfFkk7tAeQj1Xc/s1600/fabric+board+Norma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcxbCeyPX98Gc_yE2RXB7V3vWwGZZkFv3-bXbRYYoAMNY0V4Kg4XoPjjdjImRjYZ84E7GvSiobqh1OrwoHw1PakLWfeDgAvpN31j83cmIzmaEgH5poY5qp2nkoj2tlOfFkk7tAeQj1Xc/s320/fabric+board+Norma.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I made copies of the old vintage photos.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I made a fabric memory or memo board. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcWfE6TzlZA4cvgWdTnLFAUKXCMG3iUs2_Jd5SOPKyoefSFEmXsZx8lIi65wyC5ZHD6o8erkOjkKzUrrKWQFbVbzkssNMsWJeOS_TB9jxyNg9WKC_nq1TQp7pZcmGzXCPw0Rw4Mv_qn8M/s1600/fabric+board+empty.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcWfE6TzlZA4cvgWdTnLFAUKXCMG3iUs2_Jd5SOPKyoefSFEmXsZx8lIi65wyC5ZHD6o8erkOjkKzUrrKWQFbVbzkssNMsWJeOS_TB9jxyNg9WKC_nq1TQp7pZcmGzXCPw0Rw4Mv_qn8M/s320/fabric+board+empty.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Now the vintage pictures of the Actresses can safely be hung and looked at and enjoyed daily.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcxbCeyPX98Gc_yE2RXB7V3vWwGZZkFv3-bXbRYYoAMNY0V4Kg4XoPjjdjImRjYZ84E7GvSiobqh1OrwoHw1PakLWfeDgAvpN31j83cmIzmaEgH5poY5qp2nkoj2tlOfFkk7tAeQj1Xc/s1600/fabric+board+Norma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZcxbCeyPX98Gc_yE2RXB7V3vWwGZZkFv3-bXbRYYoAMNY0V4Kg4XoPjjdjImRjYZ84E7GvSiobqh1OrwoHw1PakLWfeDgAvpN31j83cmIzmaEgH5poY5qp2nkoj2tlOfFkk7tAeQj1Xc/s320/fabric+board+Norma.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div>The one great thing about this little memo board is this. It centers you. It awakens you to the fact that there was a calmer, quieter time long ago when the world didn't spin so so fast. To remember that when you are checking over your list of a million things to do. and maybe grumbling a bit because it's all so overwhelming . You look at these pretty actresses, and thank your lucky starts that you are here. That you have a list of things to do and that you can do them. ..and that you can slow down.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMrOu2neHF5sAym8o89BbT0mRl1thUrM-BbPaNhZ1teTRrevKeaR0U6obb_XKT7HRov6uce6ZK7iMTyOJW_iN9VDhVADwh69iMejNfAKyFweAG0u9g3aiLgUy_JFFYo6Aq1uG6Wk3nqcI/s1600/video+mess.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMrOu2neHF5sAym8o89BbT0mRl1thUrM-BbPaNhZ1teTRrevKeaR0U6obb_XKT7HRov6uce6ZK7iMTyOJW_iN9VDhVADwh69iMejNfAKyFweAG0u9g3aiLgUy_JFFYo6Aq1uG6Wk3nqcI/s320/video+mess.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
And I was trying to think of a way to organize these items a little bit and yet keep these items handy and in some kind of style.<br />
<br />
While browsing Pottery Barn, I spotted an old pepsi soda crate which was being used to house some magazines and books. I was kind of liking that idea for my videos, but they wanted a wopping 24.00 for one crate. Pottery barn crate--><br />

</div>I was trying to find one around the local thrift and antique shops but you know when your looking for something it doesn't always materialize.<br />
<br />
I happened to mention it to a friend of my husband's and sure enough a couple of days later he arrived with an old Coca Cola soda crate from his dad's basement for me to enjoy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-RvAO3xYEcb5j8SUbz2NZUAejV3ZuFfWhvtD3Lt6z7anOCjilvoCKRG_3am1g-AyVYKHX4nZein872VK5Zl8ATl1m7nkxYAFmlA536hjxebhXpA6XqZpfo4gMkZengrrUFa2ocJpOazs/s1600/crate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-RvAO3xYEcb5j8SUbz2NZUAejV3ZuFfWhvtD3Lt6z7anOCjilvoCKRG_3am1g-AyVYKHX4nZein872VK5Zl8ATl1m7nkxYAFmlA536hjxebhXpA6XqZpfo4gMkZengrrUFa2ocJpOazs/s320/crate.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>So now hurray! I had my storage unit for my videos and pics !!<br />
And they fit so nicely in there, I may have to search for more.<br />

I just love the soft and creamy pink fabric of the bedspread and the seashells around the mirror, above the bed.<br />

It was mahoghany and I thought long and hard about refinishing it. It had a horrible coat of old mocha colored paint on it and I zip stripped all that off, and started with the sander. After a while I got frustrated and gave up. I just didn't have the time I needed to bring it to it's former glory.<br />
It sat in the basement for 3 years. Then I decided to bring it to me Cottage Beach House, down the shore.<br />
There I knew it would undergo a transformation.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXnsNNZQqM1HPP3cxIR-D9S6tPcNi77fVbGvvzWUHb7XtrSE9BlXIlpgwwJBgsstGmIIvs4QnsQ9CdeZ7SQcGZTIZSQ5lWObxYqcBYwSXcyvp0USl5bBbEBME3o5GS77jhrGWdNeqdMc/s1600/DSC00234.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgXnsNNZQqM1HPP3cxIR-D9S6tPcNi77fVbGvvzWUHb7XtrSE9BlXIlpgwwJBgsstGmIIvs4QnsQ9CdeZ7SQcGZTIZSQ5lWObxYqcBYwSXcyvp0USl5bBbEBME3o5GS77jhrGWdNeqdMc/s320/DSC00234.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I painted it white. I decoupaged the drawers to hide the gouged out drawers from my son swinging the pulls that were hanging off, round and round.<br />
I'm thrilled with the final result. It serves double duty as a desk and a vanity for me. Now I use it for reading and writing on my blog, or for sitting down and fixing my hair or dabbing on some make up.<br />
I keep the junk in a neat little box from Home Goods, because I'm not too fond of clutter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmCqtz3GQcPVPQLo7xzE1Xl_69JG1ksQcZxYIb0vhCOHdEUeJSX4wbjI1G93Bf19mCSMNogSpoocEljXZWKOnuJiagpnVLMCAvOadN9ZsC7-HmdXDaEOAIw8HJ2mJC6NX38S0nrSTrnWM/s1600/DSC00237.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmCqtz3GQcPVPQLo7xzE1Xl_69JG1ksQcZxYIb0vhCOHdEUeJSX4wbjI1G93Bf19mCSMNogSpoocEljXZWKOnuJiagpnVLMCAvOadN9ZsC7-HmdXDaEOAIw8HJ2mJC6NX38S0nrSTrnWM/s320/DSC00237.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
My daughter painted me a little tray for all my goodies ( seashells found at different shores) and candles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXJiIDvqUWCqH-5gEKHPlRRmZm5oPmHgZyLiHkh_-IVxpa4HpDzI2oqIGc3hdEj_WJiUTvT554_l1JvwXrkFq7ZtYvfJ-4HhtFFgMBBXUr66lqEJqwc1h34dMgP-kCmHf-8t8qyhYmJDU/s1600/DSC00236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXJiIDvqUWCqH-5gEKHPlRRmZm5oPmHgZyLiHkh_-IVxpa4HpDzI2oqIGc3hdEj_WJiUTvT554_l1JvwXrkFq7ZtYvfJ-4HhtFFgMBBXUr66lqEJqwc1h34dMgP-kCmHf-8t8qyhYmJDU/s320/DSC00236.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And now this once beat and ragged desk that everyone said I should toss, has become a charming, useful addition to bedroom in my little Cottage Beach House.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It may be the absence of color but it brings in so much positive energy to a room. An old timeworn piece of wood or metal gets a vibrant new look when given a nice creamy coat of fresh white paint! <div>This is a neat old drop table my daughter and I are working on.
